LCC Named Moody Radio's Ministry of the Week Print E-mail
Moody Radio logo For the week of September 28-October 2, Moody Radio (90.1 FM in Chicago) is featuring LCC and the work of the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs as their Ministry of the Week. During this week, you will hear stories about the dogs, their handlers, and their work in spreading the Mercy, Compassion, Presence, and Proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need.

This year alone we have visited survivors of tornadoes, floods, wildfires, and visited with so many suffering from the tragic loss of life from murder, suicide, and vehicle accidents - most just teenagers and some even younger. Kare 9 Military Ministry dogs and handlers have attended numerous funerals, memorials, and Yellow Ribbon ceremonies. When they aren't making such visits, LCC K-9 Comfort and Kare 9 Military Ministry dogs can be found in their local assisted living homes, veteran homes and hospitals, schools, libraries, and the police and fire departments.

LCC featured in Peoria Journal Star in Look Back at Washington Tornado Print E-mail
cleanup The lives of residents in Washington, Illinois, were changed forever on the morning of Sunday, November 17, 2013.

What started out like a normal Sunday for many was quickly thrown into chaos when an EF4 tornado ripped through the town. Numerous houses were destroyed during the time the tornado was on the ground. One place was spared, Our Savior Lutheran Church.

The church quickly set up a shelter to help out those who were in need, they then contacted Lutheran Church Charities to see what could be done. LCC responded by sending in LERT teams to help with the clean-up and LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs to help with the nerves.

On November 30, the Peoria Journal Star took a look back at that terrible day and how LCC played a role in being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. Nearly 2,000 Lutheran volunteers helped with the clean-up of Washington and helped those who were affected return to some sort of normalcy. To read the article please follow the link below.

Thank you for all of those who dedicated their time in helping show the mercy and compassion of Christ Jesus to those in need. Read the article in the Peoria Journal Star View the accompanying video Donate to the LCC Disaster Response Efforts
