Marie Laura Exume - Mute Child Recently Sponsored Print E-mail

The [unfailing] love of the Lord never ends...Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning (Lam 3:22-23)

Marie Laura Exume Praise and thanksgiving to the Lord for all that He provides! Our dear Marie Laura Exume, the Haitian little girl who had never spoken is now completely sponsored and ready for school. Marie started in January 2013 and is thriving in unexpected and delightful ways. A note from LCC Haitian staff member, Lophane says:
I have to say thanks to God first and secondly, our brother Tim Hetzner who came in Haiti after the storm Isaac and spent the night in Marie Laura's mother's tent and he decided to help that family. From January to this month, she knows how to say good bye when school is over. She is the one that I visit often at school because I want to keep an eye on her because she didn't smile, so since she got sponsored to go to school, she always has a big smile in her class. You know all the kids in her class love her so much. So I want you to know what kind of impact that program has in many of our children's lives. Please know that you represent a source of blessing for my people, especially those who are living in the tent. Thanks again for all and may God be with you.

Reflecting on the Third Anniversary of Haitian Earthquake. Much Has Been Done, Much Left To Do Print E-mail
Haiti in 2010 On January 12, 2010 the most powerful Haitian earthquake in over 200 years with a magnitude of 7.0, struck shortly before 5 p.m. The epicenter was Leogane about 10 miles (15 kilometers) southwest of the capital of Port-au-Prince. Lutheran Church Charities' has passed along dollar for dollar all of your generous donations the past three years, and much has been accomplished with your support. However, tremendous need remains.

On the third anniversary of the devastating earthquake hundreds of thousands of Haitians remain in tent cities like the one LCC's Tim Hetzner spent the night in last September. Click here for a list of the ways you can help make a difference in Haiti.

Lophane Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Greetings to you from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. How are you doing? Hope you are doing well with God. For my family and I, we fine with God. Today is a special day for us in Haiti, a day of prayer, to go thanks to our Savior Jesus Christ, who save our life in the earthquake January 10, 2010. I ask you please to continue praying for us who live in Haiti, like you can see still there is people living in the tent after 3 years, This is the reason why I want to thank each of you who supported us by your prayers and your money. In the name of the Haitian's people, I want to say you thank you and may God bless you and your family. Thanks to you who help me moved in my house after three months spent in the tent with my family, so my Son was 3 years old, you who help me fixed my house, like you don't want me to repeat your name, but God knows you and my family is happy and continue praying for you and your family. I cannot close my e-mail without thanks you who continue supporting our children with your feeding program, scholarship program, construction and bringing teams all the time in Haiti, and especially to help us share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our people, where now many people believe in God, Praise the Lord and may God bless you and your family and your ministry. Christmas Comes to Haiti for LCC Sponsored Children and Their Families - Thanks to You Print E-mail
Haiti Kids Haiti Kids Christmas: a time to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior and ... experience the lights, decorations, grand meals, family gatherings and presents. For many children, Christmas is all of this and more, but for the children in Haiti, much of the traditional Christmas experience is lost in the wake of disease, hunger, and poverty.

However, for the children you've sponsored through the LCC Haiti Children Education fund, thirty-one children were treated to a special Christmas gathering. LCC staff member Lophane organized a party filled with great food, and special presents. Family members were invited to attend as well and all were treated to stories about the birth, life and saving grace of Jesus. Thanks to all who sponsored a child for this school year. Your contribution to the immediate need of these children provides an education now and untold fruit for their future.

"For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God" (2 Corinthians 9:12

Special Sponsorship Request for a Mute Child in Haiti - Final Child Available for Sponsorship Print E-mail
Haiti School Marie "For unto us a child is born ... wonderful, counselor ...". Oh, the joy and expectations of the newborn baby, Jesus! Most parents have grand ideas and beautiful dreams for their newborn baby. Good health is often at the top of the list. Haitian parents are no exception. Unfortunately, when physical disabilities occur, the cost of medical intervention is prohibitive and regrettably leaves the child marginalized. The result is that there is little hope for "normal" growth, interaction, and independence.

Marie Laura Exume (pictured) is such a child. She has never spoken and therefore requires special schooling. Her family cannot afford a regular education, let alone a specialized one. Marie Laura is the last child in our group of children needing sponsors this year and will not be allowed in school after January 1. It is our prayer that someone, touched by Marie's circumstances, would be willing to provide for this needed support. The cost for the school and busing until the end of the year is $380 Grace and peace to all of God's children this Advent Season!

Tents Repaired in Haiti Thanks to Your Generous Donations Through LCC Print E-mail
We are pleased to report that repairs to the tent homes in Haiti that were destroyed by Sandy have been completed. Thanks to your generous donations families are once again under cover and protected from the elements. It is still not a permanent solution but it provides them with basic shelter that had been taken by the storm. Our LCC staff in Haiti, Lophane Laurent, shares this update...
Haiti TentsThanks for all brother Tim, because you help those two families to have a nice place to stay. Like you saw brother there is too much tents at the same place so I cannot take the pictures of the tents I repaired like I need them. However, I send those to you to see them, because you visited the tents when you were here after the storm of Isaac. Thanks again for your help brother and I want you please to thank all of the members of LCC for supporting that project. You have given them a chance to move from a dirty tent to a tent where their roof is made of tin, that is a big blessing for them, because if it's raining they can sleep with no problem with their families. This work has made a big impact on my Church, where the other people who live in the tent city want to be a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Because the two families who received that gift and they are members of my church. This is the reason I told you , with your help your help, we can share the Gospel of Jesus Christ easily with those people who living in that big tent city, where there is 30,000 people living there. Thanks again brother for all and may God continue blessing you and your ministry also. Be blessed all the time and you are in our daily prayers.
